The Beginning…
Domel Enterprise, LLC is owned by husband and wife, Dominic and Melinda Jean-Baptiste. Dominic, an information systems engineer, and Melinda, an educator, realized their mutual love of real estate back in 2007. They both had demanding careers and knew firsthand of the pride of property ownership and wanted others to experience the same. They also wanted to stand out from the run of the mill “fix and flips” that equated to slapping a coat of paint on the walls and filling kitchens and bathrooms with builder basic materials. They wanted to provide homes that would be affordable, safe, and luxurious on the south side of Chicago. So their dream was actually two-fold: providing access to the pride of homeownership and revitalizing communities on the south side of Chicago. With this desire in mind, Melinda became a licensed realtor and they started their journey to become real estate investors. As they were walking into this new chapter of their lives together, the real estate market took a downturn and they realized it wasn’t their time.
The Middle….
Careers, marriage, and kids were in the driver’s seat for a few years before Melinda and Dominic found their way back to their shared dream of making homeownership a reality for others. In 2017, they reaffirmed their commitment to providing high-quality gut rehabbed homes on the southside of Chicago. They sought out mentors in Esther and Jason Williams of the Ultimate Real Estate Group, LLC to learn how to become real estate investors and purchased their first investment property in the Avalon Park neighborhood of Chicago. The end result was magnificent and they were offered the full asking price shortly after the house was put on the market. As they were renovating the Avalon Park home, other opportunities to grow their business were presented and they partnered with other black owned real estate development and technology companies like Syte Corp and AsOne Enterprises respectively to integrate smart home technology in home renovation projects.
